Achill Rest - Clonmany

Achill Rest is a relaxing, fully equipped, modern, 3 bedroom semi-detached home in a quiet residential area on the outskirts of Clonmany village on the Inishowen Peninsula, County Donegal, Ireland.

Clonmany (meaning ‘Monks Meadow’) is situated on the R238 road from Buncrana, and is locally known as the “Cross”.

This small rural village is a hill walker’s paradise as it is sheltered by numerous hills including, “Bulbin” at 458 metres, “Rachtin Mor” at 504 metres, “Binion Hill” at 253 metres and towering overall is “Sliabh Sneacht” at a breathtaking 615 metres.

All necessary amenities can be found locally at the Cross. The village also boasts some quaint traditional pubs.

A short strolls will take you to “Tullagh” and “Binion” strands, and the majestic “Glenevin” waterfall and 5 minutes by car will take you to “Pollan” beach (which is fast becoming a surfer’s haven), and to the 15th century “Carrickabraghy” castle.

2 kilometres away is “Ballyliffen” and its two famous golf courses. Ballyliffen also boasts 4 top class hotels. A 10 minute drive away is “Fort Dunree” and the “Military Museum”. A 30 minute drive to “Derry” and its famous walls.

The Inishowen Peninsula is unique. It has two car ferries running daily, 1 crossing “Lough Foyle” river from “Green Castle” to “Magilligan” in County Derry. The other is from “Buncrana”, crossing from “Lough Swilly” to “Rathmullan”.

Just a short drive away is the “Isle of Doagh”. There you will see the “Doagh Famine Centre”, which converts to Ireland’s “Lapland” in November of each year for the Christmas season.

Clonmany is the perfect location to explore the peninsula and the north coast of Ireland. Whether you are looking for relaxing getaway away from the stresses of everyday life, or an energising outdoor experience, then you won’t be disappointed.
